BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Foreign Trade Zone is hosting a free training session about Foreign Trade Zones and the opportunities they offer.
It is one of three sessions sponsored by the Vermont Department of Economic Development and Regional Development Corporations of Vermont in conjunction with the three Foreign Trade Zones in Vermont. The other sessions will be held in Burlington and St. Johnsbury.
The Brattleboro session will be held at the Vermont Agricultural and Business Education Center from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Dec. 15, according to a news release.
Robert Imbriani of New Jersey-based Team Worldwide will provide the training session at the home of the Brattleboro Foreign Trade Zone on University Way, south of Brattleboro Union High School. The Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation is part of the regional development network.
The benefits of working with a Foreign Trade Zone include: Goods can enter the Zone without a formal customs entry or the payment of duty and excise taxes; customs duties and excise taxes aren't payable until merchandise is released from the Zone and enters U.S. customs territory; and direct delivery is available if the Zone operator is the owner or purchaser of the imported merchandise.
