WEST BRATTLEBORO — The West Brattleboro Association (WBA) announces the development of a web site to serve West Brattleboro at www.westbrattleboro.org.
At this new website, a browser can see the activities the group itself is involved in and learn some of the plans for the future of the village. Included in those activities are the village master plan, a copy of which is posted on the new website, and proposals for a more extensive village green.
In addition, the website shares some of the history of the area and lists the businesses that thrive on the corridor leading to ski and other areas in southwestern Vermont. The website features links to many of these businesses and to the churches and housing organizations located in the village.
The West B Association also recently posted a calendar of events, and sponsored a Q&A session for area residents to meet with District 1 town representatives in anticipation of the Brattleboro Town Meeting on March 24. It was well attended with 9 town reps and many people from the community.
Chartered in 1753, West Brattleboro was actually the first site of the town of Brattleboro. With the advent of steamboats bringing goods up the Connecticut River and the coming of the railroad to town in 1849, the more commercial hub gravitated to what is now known as (downtown) Brattleboro.
This, by no means, is meant to imply that West Brattleboro is not a thriving community in its own right. Check out the new West Brattleboro website to learn about its history and its current vibrancy.
The website was developed by the current WBA president Michael Bosworth and written in large part by Barbara Gentry, who just recently launched her new web content writing business, Dynamic Words.
The purpose of the West Brattleboro Association is to promote the thoughtful and effective evolution of the community of West Brattleboro as a place that is safe, healthy, attractive, and prosperous. In addition to meetings to discuss special projects, town warrants, etc., the group meets regularly on the second Thursday of the month, alternating between evening meetings (often at The New England House), and morning meetings held at Sonny's Deli, both on Route 9 West.
