No re-re-vote on Town Offices, for now
NEWFANE — NEWFANE - The Selectboard can't accept a petition calling for another re-vote on building a new town office building, Board Chair Todd Lawley announced at the Nov. 21 regular Board meeting.
State statute prohibits a town from calling a vote on the same bond-related question more than twice in any 12-month period, according to information Lawley said he received from Bond Attorney Paul Giuliani.
“If a petition is delivered to the Selectboard, it will not be accepted,” until the 12 months are up, Lawley said.
Lister Frank Suponski confirmed the existence of the petition, telling Board members he signed it.
The Selectboard can consider a bond vote on a different question, such as one seeking to fund renovations to the existing building, Lawley noted.
