RAMP hosts Artists Town Meeting, potluck

BELLOWS FALLS — For several years, Rockingham Arts and Museum Project has hosted quarterly Artists Town Meetings. Artists, artisans, and local food growers all are encouraged to attend. The focus of the quarterly meetings is to bring creative people together in order to share ideas and a meal.

“The more we know each other and can identify ourselves as a constituency the more strength and credibility we gain.” RAMP founder Robert McBride explained in a news release. “There is an ever-growing community of working artists and local growers in our midst, all of whom are contributing greatly to the cultural and economic vitality of our communities. One of RAMP's many roles is to be an advocate for these artists. In order to be effective in that role, RAMP creates and participates in opportunities to hear from local artists and assist them in making community connections that benefit us all.”

McBride says the Project is committed to collaborating and co-hosting four Artists Town Meetings throughout the year. The meetings are informal and open to all.

Items for discussion will be an Open Studio Weekend hosted by the Vermont Crafts Council; what role artists and the arts are playing in the development of downtown Bellows Falls; and how we can support our local growers. The weekend offers an excellent opportunity for artists to share their work and to gain access to potential customers.

Chris Sherwin, Jeanette Staley, Clare Adams, and RAMP will be hosting the next Artists Town Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 13, 6 to 8 p.m., at 33 Bridge St., in downtown Bellows Falls.
