Getting Project Graduation off the ground in Hinsdale

My daughter's 2018 junior class in Hinsdale is trying hard to get Project Graduation - a drug- and alcohol-free all-night party for 2018 graduating seniors and their guests - back off the ground. It has been down for years.

A few of us parents have started a committee this year and are working very hard already with lots of meetings and a few events under our belt. We need to get the word out to everyone that this is worth fighting for. I hope you can help us.

On Homecoming Weekend, we did a Jail Day, where the junior class sold warrants to kids, teachers, parents and, well, anyone. They were “arrested” and had to raise funds to get out of jail. It went very well.

Our Farm Day at the Hinsdale fields offered games and activities for all ages, a pie-eating contest, live farm animals, touch-a-tractor, hayrides, quilt raffle, face painting, cow plop bingo, and a food booth. The haunted hayride that evening was a scary success!

Special thanks to all who donated time, goods, and services.

A lot of parents donated their entire day setting up and staffing the booths with the juniors. It was also a nice surprise to see a few seniors and sophomores help out. The town really rallied together in support of our children.

I believe that this is already taking this school and town on a great journey, in so many more ways than what we can do for just that one night. And I am so proud to be a part of this!
