BRATTLEBORO — The Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro has selected Ricky Davidson to be the organization's next executive director.
Davidson's appointment is the culmination of a five-month national search process, according to a news release.
According to the release, Davidson is well-known in southeastern Vermont for his civic service and especially his commitment to the well-being of young people. A graduate of Franklin Pierce College, Davidson began his career locally in 1995 at the Brattleboro Retreat where he managed an adolescent residential unit and where he later managed programs at the Retreat's Tower Alternative School.
In 2004, Davidson began working for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England as a trained health educator, a position which he held for four years. During that time, he also began working at the Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro as Teen Services Director.
Since then, Davidson has taken on greater roles within the organization, advancing to director of operations at the club's main site on Flat Street, and most recently as interim executive director.
Board President Marcia Steckler said in the release that Davidson “brings an impressive track record of passion, commitment and collaboration to lead the Club to new levels of community engagement.”
Davidson will be responsible for strengthening the club's resources and deepening the impact of its programs, which currently serve over 1,200 local youth members through sites on Flat Street in downtown Brattleboro and in the Community Center at Westgate Housing Association in West Brattleboro.
