Good day, everybody! The summer of 2016 rolls on, and it has certainly been warmer than the previous two. While we remain in drought, we have a couple of chances for more substantial rains on Friday and Sunday, so here's hoping they actually materialize.
For Wednesday, we'll enjoy pleasant, very warm weather with highs topping out in the upper 80s in and around Brattleboro with plenty of sunshine. It will be fairly humid, but not horrible. Lows in the low to mid 60s and clear.
On Thursday, a frontal boundary will be pushing south into the region from northern New England. This front will help focus isolated to scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm in and around our area. Highs will be in the upper 80s once again, with increased humidity. Isolated showers or storms could continue into the evening, with lows in the mid 60s.
By Friday, it gets tricky, as the aforementioned front will stall somewhere in southwestern New England.
A shortwave (i.e. a small low-pressure system) will move along this front, and could bring more numerous showers to Windham County, which is very much needed. However, exact placement of the front will determine how wet we get.
Highs cool down into the low 80s through the weekend, and we can expect more clouds overall.
* * *
On Saturday, scattered showers are possible, but as of this writing (Tuesday), a lull in the action could take place, and we may get some sunny breaks and briefly drier weather during the day.
By Saturday night into Monday morning, more showers are possible as another system ejects eastward out of the western Great Lakes region into New England.
By Monday, we should see the moisture let up so we can enjoy some more sunshine into early next week, with temperatures still in the low to mid 80s.
Please remember that beyond 72 hours, forecast accuracy goes down fairly substantially. And it's also worth nothing that while you experience a given air temperature near the Connecticut River to the east, temperatures drop off by 5 to 10 degrees in the mountainous region of the western and northern parts of Windham County near Stratton and Mount Snow.
Have a great week!
