Good day to you, fine people of Windham County and southern Vermont! My name is Dave Hayes, and I'll be your weather-nut host for a time.
We've got a couple chances for rain over the next week, and given how dry it has been, this is a most welcome development.
According to the United States Drought Monitor, the entire state of Vermont is in a light drought at the moment. This means we'll need more than a couple of cold frontal passages and their attendant scattered showers and thunderstorms to make us whole, but we'll take what we can get.
• For Wednesday, a cold front will be moving through southern Vermont from west to east, and it will spawn isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms into the afternoon. Some of these storms could contain gusty winds and small hail.
Highs will reach the mid 70s in Brattleboro and the southeastern part of the county and upper 60s in the northwest (Stratton area). Showers end tonight, with lows in the 50s.
• For Thursday, high pressure and drier air moves in with sunny skies, highs near 80, and lows in the 50s, under clear skies.
• On Friday, an upper-level low-pressure system over James Bay, Canada will drop a cold front to the system's south, which will then sweep through Friday afternoon and night, with more showers and thunderstorms possible and highs near 80.
• After a spot shower on Saturday morning before the front pushes east of the region, we should be clearing and drying all the way through 4th of July, with highs in the upper 70s, sunshine, and great weather for outdoor plans.
There's a slight chance for a shower later in the weekend, but as of this writing, it looks like great holiday weather, so enjoy!
• Early next week looks to be fair for now with increasing heat into the low 80s, with no significant rain chances.

Please remember that five to seven days out, forecast accuracy goes down pretty substantially.
And it's also worth nothing that while you experience a given air temperature near the Connecticut River to the east, temperatures drop off by 5 to as much as 10 degrees in the mountainous region of the western and northern parts of Windham county near Stratton and Bromley.
I hope you have a great week, and happy fourth of July!
