BRATTLEBORO — For the third time, participants in the Town Schools Theatre will take to the stage on May 13, 14, and 15 to perform “An Acrobat, A Bus Driver, and an Intergalactic Overlord.”
“An Acrobat, A Bus Driver, and an Intergalactic Overlord” is written and directed by New England Youth Theater's Education Director Jonny Flood with assistance from Jessa Rowan and James Gelter, according to a news release.
“A long time ago,” the release says, “in a galaxy far, far away, a bunch of ridiculous aliens came to Earth and wreaked comedy havoc. In order to defend their planet from the evil PlerpZap warships, a handful of silly, bumbling Plarkdark aliens come to Planet Earth in the 1960s to abduct a circus performer and a bus driver named Larry, only to cause complete chaos.”
Will the rest of the circus still perform without their star acrobat? Will Bungles the Clown hang up his giant shoes and retire once and for all? Will the WarBot 9000 ever follow voice commands properly? Will Lieutenant Gooze's treachery be revealed? Will Colonel Poomp, Captain Gurkle, and Private Frangle-Spam save the day?
Town Schools Theatre is a partnership between NEYT and Academy, Green Street, and Oak Grove elementary schools. Selected students in grades 4-6 from each school have been participating in a free after-school program since early March. The unified program was created so that all students in the public elementary schools can have equal arts opportunities.
