Springfield High School was abuzz with excitement on March 19 as 54 enthusiastic 4-H'ers, ages 5 to 18, shared what they learned in their 4-H projects through stage performances, demonstrations, illustrated talks, photography, and more.
The event was the annual Southeast 4-H Regional Day, sponsored by University of Vermont Extension 4-H in Windham and Windsor counties.
In addition to earning ribbons, many of the participants were selected to perform at 4-H State Day, May 21, at the Barre Civic Center in Barre, an event featuring outstanding 4-H'ers from throughout Vermont.
Local youths and clubs continuing onto 4-H State Day are:
• Demonstration (Individual): Hannah Boisvert, Readsboro (Cleaning Your Saddle); Tanya Wheeler, Wilmington (The Wonderful World of Driving).
• Demonstration (Team):
Megan Robert, East Dover, and Shiane Wheeler, Wilmington (Groovy Grooming).
• Illustrated Talk: CC Allembert, Wilmington (Know Your English Bridle).
• Photo Design: Whitney Dunklee, Vernon; Kelsey Kissell, Vernon; Kassidy Wyman, Cambridgeport; Emeillia Gomo, Chester.
• Photography: Whitney Dunklee, Vernon; Lilia Kocsis, Vernon; Kylee Taylor, Athens; Kassidy Wyman, Cambridgeport; Arin Kenyon, Chester.
• Poster: Megan Carson, Windham; Jenna Dolloph, Chester; Whitney Dunklee, Vernon; Kassidy Wyman, Cambridgeport; Emeillia Gomo, Chester. Wyman's poster won Best in Show so also will be on exhibit at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Mass., in September.
