Tech Group meets at River Garden

BRATTLEBORO - The March Brattleboro Area Tech group meeting will be on Thursday, March 17, from 5:30 to 7 pm, at the River Garden, 157 Main St.

This month's guest is Paul Sliva of Valley Venture Mentors, who will give a brief talk about free resources to help one build a scalable startup, with plenty of time for questions. Anyone working with or interested in technology in the Brattleboro area is welcome to attend.

Free real estate seminar offered

BRATTLEBORO - A free real-estate seminar will be held at the Holiday Inn Express, 100 Chickering Drive, on Thursday, March 17, at 7 p.m., and again on Saturday, March 19, at 10 a.m.

Rick John, the host and apeaker, says the seminar is “everything you should or need to know about real estate.”

There will be a discussion about the terminology, concepts, issues, laws, health/environment, forms, representation and real life examples and stories, plus questions and answers.

Funding available for Brattleboro-area projects

BRATTLEBORO - Funding is now available for Brattleboro-area projects and organizations through the Crosby-Gannett Fund and the Dunham-Mason Fund at the Vermont Community Foundation. The two funds were established at the Community Foundation in 2009 with the assets of the Crosby Foundation and Dunham-Mason Foundation respectively, which were both dissolved in December 2008.

The purpose of both funds is to support endeavors that contribute to the betterment and vitality of the Brattleboro area. The funds' local advisors are interested in supporting projects that rely mainly on local financial support.

Eligible projects and organizations will focus on innovation, capital improvements, and historical renovation/preservation.

Crosby-Gannett Fund grants range from $250 to $1,000; Dunham-Mason Fund grants range from $250 to $500. In 2016, there are two rounds for both funds with deadlines at 5 p.m. on April 14 and Oct. 13.

Changes at Sunnyside Solar

WEST BRATTLEBORO - The Sunnyside Solar Store, LLC, 499 Marlboro Rd., has seen some changes in 2016. The founder of the store, Dave Bonta, has transitioned ownership to Joseph Mangum of Lamoureux Electric/Optional Power Systems as of Jan. 1.

The Sunnyside Solar Store will continue at its regular spot in the red barn behind the Chelsea Royal Diner.

The regular schedule for hours of operation for the spring will be Tuesdays through Saturdays, from noon to 6 p.m., otherwise by appointment.

The store features many items of solar and renewables and is a solid resource for information about the technologies. Complete residential and small commercial photovoltaic (solar electric) systems, as well as solar domestic hot water and heat pump hot water systems are available with full installation capabilities.
