NEWFANE — Although there have been few opportunities to enforce them so far this season, Newfane's winter parking regulations are in effect now through April 15, 2016.
The rules, posted on the town's website, newfanevt.com, state: “Any vehicle parked on a highway right-of-way so as to interfere with snow and/or ice removal will be towed at the owner's expense. The plowing of snow onto or across a Town Highway is prohibited. Snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles shall not be operated on any plowed Town Highway."
Roads Foreman and Selectboard Chair Todd Lawley noted at the Dec. 7 regular board meeting that West Street seems to be a problem area every winter.
He reminded drivers to not park there, or on any town road, when it is snowing or the town will have it towed.
