Three regional musicians plan Live Abstract Artist Expo

BRATTLEBORO — Veteran experimental musicians John Levin, John Singer, and Ron Schneiderman will perform at Turn It Up! at 85 Main St. on Friday, Jan. 8, the first Gallery Walk of 2016.

Performances will be followed by an in-depth panel discussion with the artists and a question and answer session with the audience.

Levin is an improviser, electronic musician, wind player and composer based in Brattleboro. His most recent music explores a world of sustained tones, harmonics, and changing tunings that are best created with vintage analog synthesizers. He also draws inspiration from medieval polyphony, drones, early minimalism, and free improvisation.

Singer is the founder of Fieldtone, a website dedicated to incidental sound, deep listening, and field recordings. He also works as a chocolatier at Tavernier Chocolates.

Schniederman is a member of Sunburned Hand of the Man and founder of the record label Spirit of Orr. He also performs the Estey Field Organ Tone Archive and has an extensive knowledge of the history of synthesizer technology.

The free event starts at 6 p.m. and is open to all ages.
