BRATTLEBORO — The New England Youth Theatre (NEYT) Alumni are back in Brattleboro for their sixth annual fundraising production of one of Shakespeare's classic farces: The Comedy of Errors.
Mistaken identity causes chaos when two sets of twins separated at birth (two merchants both named Antipholus, with two servants named Dromio) finally meet in the same city with riotous results.
Full of slapstick and puns, The Comedy of Errors will be directed by NEYT alumnus Ben Stockman and feature female actors in the leading comedic roles. All proceeds from the show will be donated to NEYT's Angels in the Wings scholarship fund.
As is tradition, the alumni will be attempting an approximation of the Elizabethan rehearsal process, putting together the show within 24 hours of first meeting.
To stay competitive, Shakespeare's company performed as many as 30 plays in rep, learning the roles and blocking the scenes for a different production every day.
