BRATTLEBORO — Will Ackerman, founder of Windham Hill Records, presents The Gathering Concert, featuring five award-winning musicians he was worked with in the recording studio, on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m., at Centre Congregational Church on Main Street.
On the concert bill are:
• Barbara Higbie, pianist, fiddler, singer-songwriter, co-founded the acoustic super group, Montreux. Higbie has five solo albums, and has performed on more than 100 albums, with musicians such as Carlos Santana and Teresa Trull.
• David Cullen, Grammy winning guitarist has recorded 12 CDs and performed on the Windham Hill Guitar Sampler and Compilation CDs.
• Jill Haley, oboe and English horn player, was awarded Best Piano Album at the Zone Music (ZMR) Awards in 2014, and her 2012 album, Zion and Bryce Canyon Soundscapes, was rated No. 1 for the Most Worldwide Airplay by ZMR.
• David Lindsay, guitarist, has performed throughout Canada and will release a new instrumental album in November.
• Tom Eaton, piano, best known as an award-winning recording engineer and producer, has released one record of piano based material and a new album will be released this year.
Ackerman, who now lives in Dummerston, is a Grammy Award-winning guitarist, composer, and producer and the recipient of 27 gold and platinum records. He began The Gathering concert series as a way to give listeners a chance to experience the acoustic instrumental soundscapes of these musicians in a live setting.
