WILMINGTON — The 98th annual Deerfield Valley Farmers Day Fair takes place on Aug. 20 to 23 at Baker Field off Beaver Street in downtown Wilmington.
Daily admission to the fair is $12 for adults, $6 for adults over 65, and free for children 4 and under. The adult admission price includes unlimited carnival rides.
The fair begins on Thursday, Aug. 20, with a truck pull. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with the midway open at 5 p.m., and the first heats in the truck pull at 6 p.m.
Fair gates and the exhibit halls open at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21. The feature event is a vehicle rodeo, which begins at 5 p.m. There will also be a country jam session, EMS demonstrations, and bingo.
A horse show opens the fair on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 8:30 a.m. It's 4-H Day, and a horse pull at 10 a.m. and the annual pie eating contest at 1 p.m. top the list of activities. The midway opens at 10 a.m., and kids can enjoy a children's barnyard and a clown on the grounds. Honors for the Gardner of the Year and the Great Cook Award will also be announced.
The fair wraps up on Sunday, Aug. 23, with the demolition derby at 11 a.m. The midway will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when the exhibit halls and the gates close.
