BRATTLEBORO — United Way of Windham County's fifth annual Adult Dental Care Day takes place on Saturday, April 25, in Brattleboro.
Adult Dental Care Day serves people for whom affordability of dental care is the largest barrier, with the majority of participants earning less than $15,000 per year.
Residents in need of dental care will receive it from five participating dental offices and their staff who are donating their time and expertise.
Participating practices in Windham County include: Dental Health, Dr. Suzanne West, Dr. Jared Rediske, Deerfield Valley Dental Care, Estey Dental Center, Connecticut Valley Oral Surgery, and Professional Dental Care.
Dental procedures provided include saving damaged teeth, extractions, fillings as well as x-rays. Individuals will also learn about how to improve their eating habits, learn about the effects of sugar on their dental health and learn about smoking cessation.
More than 600 people have received pro bono dental services since 2011 at Adult Dental Care Days in Windham County.
According to the United Way of Windham County, that's 520 x-rays, 428 fillings, and 376 extractions.
The United Way will again partner with local medical providers, non-medical volunteers, individual donors, financial and in-kind sponsors, Rescue, Inc., and Brattleboro Elks #1499, among many others, to help address dental health in the region.
