BRATTLEBORO — On Sunday, March 8, at 4 p.m., at Centre Congregational Church on Main St., the Brattleboro Music Center presents Music School faculty members, violinist Michelle Liechti and pianist Chonghyo Shin in a benefit concert for the BMC scholarship fund.
The concert program includes Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 10 in G Major, Op. 96; Brahms' Violin Sonata No.3 in D minor, Op.108; Chopin's Barcarolle in F-sharp Major, Op. 60; Schumann - Liszt's Widmung, and the Chaconne from the Partita in D minor by Bach.
Liechti is a member of Arcadia Players, and freelances throughout New England. She is on the faculty at the BMC Music School, where she teaches all ages including the recently instituted adult beginning violin class and coaches chamber music. She specializes in the New Approach, which seeks to prevent physical injuries and eliminate stage fright related to playing the violin or viola. She also teaches at Northfield Mount Hermon School.
Shin, a former teacher at the Preparatory Division of the New England Conservatory and at Keene State College, She now teaches at Amherst College. She has been a member of the BMC Music School faculty for more than 30 years. She has been a soloist with the Boston Pops, the Pioneer Valley Symphony, the New England Conservatory Orchestra, and the Windham Orchestra.
