The Vermont Telecommunications Authority (VTA) is conducting a survey of residents in four Windham County towns in which small cellular phone antennas have been installed and are operating along an underserved corridor.
The VTA seeks to gather information about cell phone use from individuals who live or travel along and near a stretch of Route 30 stretching from Interstate 91 in Brattleboro through West Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, and Jamaica.
This survey will also raise awareness of the new network built and managed by Vanu CoverageCo (“CoverageCo”). The survey is available by calling 802-444-0142, and online at www.telecomvt.org/faq_covco.
“This survey will help us assure the network we have helped to fund can benefit as many people as possible,” Christopher Campbell, executive director of the VTA, said in a news release. “We greatly appreciate people's willingness to help us gather this information. Anyone who lives near or travels along this corridor should consider taking a minute to fill out this four-question survey online or by phone.”
Small cellular phone antennas mounted on utility poles in this corridor are currently providing service to many customers with accounts on the Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and some other networks.
The VTA seeks to build awareness of this network and collect information that will help the VTA encourage other cellular service providers to expand the coverage available to their customers in the area. The campaign will also provide information VTA and CoverageCo can use to identify and trouble-shoot issues people may be having in accessing the network.
The survey is being conducted by VTA staff going door-to-door to speak with residents and deliver informational door hangers with tear-off business reply postcards that include the brief four-question survey.
