GUILFORD — Broad Brook Grange will hold its annual Pre-Town Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m., at the Grange hall.
The event will provide the only opportunity for voters to hear details of the articles that will be presented at the Annual Town Meeting and Annual School District Meeting.
Participants can meet and discuss issues with the Selectboard and School Board prior to Town Meeting Day on Tuesday, March 3, the first Tuesday of the month. The meeting begins at 10 a.m., in the gym of the Guilford Central School.
In addition, candidates for town and school board offices are urged to attend to introduce themselves to the voters. State law prevents any campaigning by candidates at Town Meeting when an Australian ballot is used, as in this instance.
Those interested in declaring as a write-in candidate should also attend. “There are two positions for lister with no candidate on the ballot, so a write-in candidate receiving just 18 votes could be elected,” organizers write.
The Grange Hall is at 3940 Guilford Center Rd. in Guilford Center, 4 miles west of the Guilford Country Store. Refreshments will conclude the evening.
