BRATTLEBORO — The Washed Up Beulah Band returns to New England Youth Theatre on Friday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m. with a program of exciting a capella radio-gospel quartet songs from the 1930s and '40s.
Combining playful rhythms of ragtime and jazz with the soulful sound of blues, spirituals, and occasional train-whistle harmonies, this pivotal moment in American folk music history comes to life through the collaboration of four Vermont boys: Luke Hoffman, Kenny Shimizu, Wheaton Squier, and Brattleboro's Arthur Davis.
This concert is part of a fundraiser for the band's second CD recording project.
