BELLOWS FALLS — Our Place Drop In Center is collecting bowls and auction items for its 17th annual benefit Empty Bowl dinner and auctions Sunday, Nov. 2, at Alyson's Orchard in Walpole, N.H.
Potters who have pledged bowls include Malcolm Wright, Natalie Blake, Virginia Wyoming, Claudia Teachman, Susan Dunning, Melissa Clark, Jean Meinhardt, Miranda Thomas, Maya Zelkin, and Mary Hepburn and her Vermont Academy pottery students.
This year's supper features a live auction with auctioneer Sharon Boccelli and an array of items such as a stay at a condo in the Austrian Alps, a night in a yurt, a wine tasting, two hours of private time on the Vermont Academy hockey rink, a tour of Ken Burns' Florentine Films, and the use of a condo near Torino, Italy.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with an auction preview and social hour. Each attendee selects one of the handmade bowls to keep.
Proceeds of the dinner help support the food programs of Our Place, which include a food pantry, a daily breakfast and lunch, and nutrition education.
Our Place is a daytime shelter and food pantry at 4 Island St. dedicated to connecting people with food. It serves families in the greater Rockingham and surrounding areas and in Walpole and North Walpole, N.H.
Tickets for the Empty Bowl ($30) are available at Village Square Booksellers in Bellows Falls, Real to Reel Video and Galloway Real Estate in Walpole, and at Our Place.
