Hungrytown duo to play benefit for Brooks Library

BRATTLEBORO — Join the Friends of Brooks Memorial Library for a library fundraiser concert on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.

The performers: Vermont folk-based duo Hungrytown, the musical and married team of Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson, who have released “Hungrytown” (2008) and “Any Forgotten Thing” (2011).

Hall and Anderson tour full time; they note their adventures have taken them throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and New Zealand.

And their songs are performed by other artists such as Nashville songwriting legend David Olney and bluegrass veterans the Virginia Ramblers.

Hungrytown's music also appears on several television shows, including the Independent Film Channel's hit series “Portlandia.”

Anderson is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and talented producer and arranger.

“Anderson has a knack for crafting rich arrangements that don't clutter things up,” writes Casey Rea of Seven Days.

Hall has two well-received CDs, “Rebecca Hall Sings!” (2000) and “Sunday Afternoon” (2002). She has developed a reputation for crafting classic, instantly memorable songs that weave modern themes into traditional song structures. In 2003 Daniel Gewertz of the Boston Herald wrote, “Rebecca Hall is a true rarity: a new folk classicist.”
