BRATTLEBORO — After the hugely successful People's Climate March, and in spite of the scant media coverage, the question some ask is, “What's next?”
Since buildings in the United States are the source of nearly half (48 percent) of our carbon emissions (twice as much as cars, at 24 percent), Community Solutions of Ohio has produced Passive House Revolution, a documentary film that describes the history, progress, and simplicity of super-insulating buildings to decrease energy demands, and therefore, the carbon emissions, as well as costs by 80-90 percent. Imagine a heating bill of just $100 to $200 a year!
BCTV's Channel 8 will air this timely and informative 45-minute film on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. Watch with family and friends to learn what's next.
We can all do something very significant - right now, this year, this season - by following the commonsense advice and vision of reducing our needs and demands for fossil-fuel energy by building - and using resources - more efficiently.
By doing so, as described in the film, we can all achieve the goal of reducing our carbon footprint by 80 percent much sooner than 2050, which scientists tell us is our deadline for effecting change to sustain life as we know it on our planet.
