Simon Brooks brings his side-splitting stories to Saxtons River

SAXTONS RIVER — Storyteller Simon Brooks brings his talent for telling side-splitting stories to Saxtons River on Saturday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. in a performance arranged by Main Street Arts.

The event, at Christ's Church, is sponsored by TMG Enterprises LLC. Tickets are $15, and sold at MSA or at the door on the night of the show.

Brooks (www.simonbrooksstoryteller.com), an award-winning British storyteller, educator, and voice-over artist, brings humor to most of his stories. These are sometimes wry, sometimes edgy, and sometimes naughty.

With his bodhrán (an Irish frame drum) Brooks tells stories poignant, deep, and occasionally dark. His tales can even verge on truth, and often are pulled from the pantheon of folk and myth.

And he is known for channeling extraordinary voices. The show is billed as oriented for adults.

Although Brooks says his love lies with the hills of Britain, he tells folk and faerie tales and deep myths and legends from all over the world. He has performed and taught all over New England at festivals, museums, schools, libraries, camps, hospitals, and private functions.
