• Lynn Ellen Barnes, 59, of Bellows Falls. Died unexpectedly at her home. Daughter of Marjorie (Farrands) and the late Richard Crowell. Sister of Loreen Miller and husband, George, of Cromwell, Conn. Born in Middletown, Conn., she was a graduate of the Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown. Following graduation, she joined the Army, serving for four years, some of that time in Germany. She worked in security at Vermont Yankee and had been the ISO Safety Manager at Sonnax in Rockingham. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as Vermont State President. She was a member of the Whip City Drum Corps and the Deep River Ancient Fife and Drum Corps. She enjoyed reading and music. Memorial information: A funeral service was held March 14 at the Chapel at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
• Beverly “Bev” Lorraine King Boman, 70, formerly of Vermont. Died March 7 at her sister's home in Helena, Mont. after a two-year battle with cancer. Mother of Lori C. Robinson and her husband, Larry, of Arlee, Mont.; Jeffery Crosby and his wife, Janine, of Springfield; Marcy Crosby of Chester; and Timothy Crosby and his wife, Marie, of Townshend. Sister of Alan King, and his wife, Ellie, of Westfield, N.J.; Pearle Plowman and her husband, Arlyn, of Helena, Mont.; and the late Bruce King. Born in St. Albans, the daughter of the late Hartland and Lorraine Magoon King, she grew up in Franklin and graduated from Highgate High School in 1961. She obtained her LPN license in 1964 after graduating from Fanny Allen School of Nursing in Burlington. She later became a medical transcriptionist. She was musically inclined and played the piano, organ, and accordion. She had a beautiful singing voice. She was an amateur photographer and an author of poetry. She loved to travel and enjoyed motorcycle rides and bowling. She had no particular church affiliation, but attended church regularly and possessed a strong faith. Memorial information: A memorial service will be held at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home & Crematory in Helena on March 29. A graveside committal service at Rice Hill Cemetery in Sheldon, Vt., will be held sometime this summer.
• Gail G. Christmas, 62, of Brattleboro. Died March 8 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Husband of William “Bill” Christmas for 40 years. Mother of Seth Christmas of Brattleboro, Courtney Millerick and her husband, Chris, of Vernon, and Whitney Christmas of Boston. Grandmother of Devin and Tyler Millerick. Sister of Tina Squires of Guilford. Born in Brattleboro, the daughter of Nancy (Juscen) and the late Frank Goldsmith, she attended Brattleboro public schools and was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1969. She went on to attend Castleton State College, where she earned her B.A. in Education in 1973. She taught at Bellows Falls Union High School, retiring in June 2013. Previously, she taught at the Kurn Hattin School, served as a special education teacher at Oak Grove School in Brattleboro, worked as a para-professional at Academy School in West Brattleboro, and started her education career at The Putney School. She was the proud recipient of the University of Vermont Teacher of the Year Award for Windham Northeast Supervisory Union, presented to her in 2010. She was well respected by her colleagues and admired and loved by her many students. A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church where, for several years, she served as a youth coordinator with the parish's religious education committee. She also volunteered in the church's rectory under former pastor, the Rev. Basil Nichols. At BUHS, she was instrumental in establishing the Helen Ingram Scholarship Award and was active with the Booster Club. She was an avid reader and devoted homemaker whose life centered around her family. Throughout the past few years, with her sister Tina, she was a dedicated caregiver to her elderly mother. She especially enjoyed following her children's and grandchildren's sports and after school activities. She was known for her spirit of friendship and generosity. Memorial information: A funeral Mass was held March 15 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. • Amy Parsha Lovergine, 33, of Townshend. Died March 3 after a brief illness. Daughter of Parsha Lovergine of Londonderry and Mark Lovergine of Townshend. Mother of Wyette, Nitara, Meadow, and Layla Lovergine. Sister of Angela Lovergine of Providence, R.I. She worked with her mother throughout her life at their cleaning service, as well as having her own private clients. She also cooked at The Townshend Dam Diner and worked at The Windham Hill Inn and Blake Hill Jams in Grafton. Many enjoyed seeing her Hummingbird Hill Gardens stand each week at the Townshend Farmer's Market. She touched many lives, more than she knew. She loved going to camp with her kids, thrift shopping, and shoes. Memorial information: A memorial service was held March 13 at the Townshend Town Hall. • Richard Arthur Raymo Sr., 75, of Wilmington. Died March 10 after being struck by a vehicle as he was walking in Tampa, Fla. Husband of Diane Clouthier Raymo. Former husband of Nancy Livingston. Father of Richard Raymo Jr. of Florum Park, N.J., Robin Smith of Woodbridge, Va., Stephanie Del Corso of Treasure Island, Fla., and the late Kimberly Janeway Raymo and Jennifer Alicia Raymo. Stepfather of Amy Shea Hatinen of Wesley Chapel, N.C. Brother of James Raymo of East Dover, Bartley Raymo, of Wilmington, Isabel Raymo Rice of Portland, Maine, and the late Michael Alan Raymo. Born in Wilmington, the oldest son of the late Richard Paul Raymo and Dorothy Alicia Day, he was a graduate of the University of Vermont in 1965 and valedictorian of Wilmington High School, Class of 1956. He was also an honorary alumnus and contributor to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst athletics department. He owned W.W. Building Supply, Inc. in Newfane and Wilmington for more than 35 years. He served 28 continuous years on the board of trustees of Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend and was one of its most faithful volunteers and supporters. He was an outstanding citizen, serving in the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and United Way. He volunteered in community activities, supported local arts, and was always generous in his support of the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry and Deerfield Valley Community Cares heat fund for local citizens in need. He was a generous supporter of the Families First Vermont Organization in memory of his beloved daughter Kimberly. He was a passionate baseball fan, always cheering on his beloved New York Yankees. His annual spring sojourn to Florida marked the beginning of the baseball season and filled him with anticipation of the upcoming season. He was a member of the Society for Baseball Research (SABR) and active within its Negro Leagues Committee in the study of the historic black baseball clubs, celebrating many players not recognized today. He was also an active member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. Memorial information: A memorial service will be announced at a later date to be held in Wilmington. He will be interred with his two daughters, Kimberly and Jennifer, as well as his parents and grandparents, in Riverview Cemetery. Donations to Grace Cottage Hospital, P.O. • Stillman Charles “Stib” Squiers, 79, of Guilford. Died March 12 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Husband of Shirley (Cole) Squiers for almost 60 years. Father of Anthony Squiers and his wife, Mary, and Valerie Bly and longtime family friend Skip Bly. Brother of Donald Squires and the late Webster and Barney Squires, and Gretchen Squiers. Born in Brattleboro, the son of the late Clifford and Catherine (Gallup) Squiers, he was raised and educated in Brattleboro, later attending Vermont Agricultural Tech School. He was employed by the Guilford Highway Department for several years and previously worked at The Book Press in Brattleboro. Following retirement, he worked part-time driving trucks for LaRock Construction and Jeff Clark Construction. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, horses, horse racing, and gardening. He was known for his large vegetable garden at his Guilford Center Road home. Memorial information: A memorial service in celebration of his life will be conducted Saturday, March 22, at 11 a.m., at the Guilford Community Church. A reception will follow the services.
