BRATTLEBORO — Route 30 will be closed for up to six consecutive days in either late February or early March as part of the Interstate 91 Bridge Replacement Project, according to information provided by the managers of the $60 million project.
The actual closure dates will be announced at least 72 hours in advance after the team confirms it has good weather for the work.
Once the closure begins, through traffic will be barred on Route 30 through the area of the bridge work. Car traffic will be detoured over Upper Dummerston Road.
Contractors say they'll try to avoid closing the road over a weekend.
Work continues in the meantime, weather permitting. The concrete decking has been removed from the northbound bridge, and part of the steel arch has been dismantled.
The speed limit on Route 30 near the work zone has been reduced to 40 miles per hour. Project-related truck activity on Route 30 will continue. Route 30 will be reduced to a single lane intermittently day and night, with flaggers within the work zone regulating traffic.
