MARLBORO — Marlboro College presents a concert by renowned pianist Benjamin Hochman on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. in Ragle Hall, Serkin Center for the Performing Arts.
The concert, including music by Knussen, Brahms, and Rzewski, is part of Marlboro's Music for a Sunday Afternoon series, and is free and open to the public.
Winner of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2011, Hochman made his successful New York recital debut in 2006 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He performs in major cities around the world as an orchestral soloist, recitalist, and respected chamber music partner, working with a celebrated array of renowned conductors and colleagues.
Hochman's program will explore one of the most primal and versatile of musical forms, “variations.” The concert will include variations in contrasting styles by contemporary composers Oliver Knussen and Frederic Rzewski, alongside Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Handel.
