PUTNEY — Next Stage Arts, The Gleanery, and the Putney Co-op present a January film series that's all about the food, with “Dinner and a Movie” Thursday evenings in January.
Seating starts at 5:30 p.m. at The Gleanery, where chefs will serve a menu inspired by some of their favorite films about food.
At 7, diners will head over to Next Stage and take in those films on the big screen. Ticket holders will be treated to snacks courtesy of the Putney Co-op. Bon appétit!
The schedule:
• Jan. 2, 2014 - “The Gleaners and I” (2000), a French language documentary by Agnès Varda, explores the culture of gleaning in the fields and markets of food-rich France.
• Jan. 9 - Peabody Award-winning American documentary “King Corn” (2007) takes up the impacts of corn in our nation's modern food supply.
• Jan. 16 - Pixar classic “Ratatouille” (2007) inspires food lovers young and old to dream big.
• Jan. 23 - “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” (2011) tells the tale of one of Japan's best loved, and most revered, sushi masters.
• Jan. 30 - “Fresh” (2009) documents some of the leading farmers and food systems innovators in the modern quest for a just and sustainable food future.
