On Sunday, Nov. 24, folk icon Mark Erelli plays a brunchtime show at the Windham Ballroom.
Erelli's not some grizzled road dog from the sepia-toned past but it's hard to imagine the modern folk scene without him. The 14-odd years that he's been making music professionally has helped to infuse the industry with his own youthful vigor, all while he became a fixture in his own right.
With nearly a dozen records behind him, dErelli has a considerable oeuvre from which to build a live show and in his spare time he's also been a brilliant side man for a number of big name talent. He also has the insight and gumption to claim that playing in Bellows Falls is “like doing a gig inside a Bill Morrisey song.”
You'll have to show up to see what he means and if, in fact, he's still correct.
Now he's made a record with the young and talented Hayley Reardon, a teenaged songwriting award winner from Boston who has the media in a flutter about her future. She'll be playing with a trio featuring famed producer Lorne Entress on percussion and Berklee prof and extraordinary cellist, Catherine Bent.
If you need more convincing, the show happens at midday and is accompanied by Popolo's delicious brunch, served with generous helpings of music in the Windham Ballroom.
