LONDONDERRY — Brattleboro Development Credit Corp., Windham Regional Commission, and Bennington County Regional Commission are presenting a village-and-town-revitalization workshop at the Town Office, 100 Old School St., on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 6:30 p.m.
This workshop, focusing on the importance of a well-planned and -implemented design for a downtown or village center, is open to anyone interested in organizing to create a more resilient village or town center economy.
Panelists are Richard Amore, planning coordinator for the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development; Chris Campany, executive director of the Windham Regional Commission; and Vermont Downtown Development Board Member Michael McDonough, a retired architect with more than 30 years' experience in planning and development.
Presentations will cover enhancing and improving a downtown or village center's appearance through design. On tap: assessing local infrastructure in the early planning process and implementing appropriate street-scape elements, such as pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, landscape design, and lighting, to attract more activity to the center and ensure a vibrant and welcoming area for years to come.
This design panel is the fourth in a series of six village and town revitalization workshops slated for Windham and Bennington counties over the next five months.
Through these interactive forums, community members will learn about reinvigorating their villages and towns through public and private partnerships, building on community assets, approaching design, implementing strategy, and promoting both village and town.
