NEWFANE — Kindle Farm School is merging with Health Care and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS).
Kindle Farm and HCRS, a nonprofit community mental health agency serving residents of Windham and Windsor counties, have enjoyed a productive business partnership for several years, providing for enhanced therapeutic services, programming, and infrastructure at the school.
The merger, recently approved by the Vermont Secretary of State's office, allows for increased financial stability for Kindle Farm, and will continue to improve services provided at the school.
HCRS said in a recent press release that it benefits from the merger through an enhancement of its continuum of care for children in the region.
Kindle Farm offers an alternative educational experience for boys in 2nd through 12th grade from two locations in Newfane. Here, students who have struggled to find success in a traditional classroom setting receive year-round day programming.
The school credits its success to a low student/teacher ratio, combining academics, to offering therapeutic recreational activities, to providing traditional therapy, and to focusing on students' individual behavioral, emotional, and academic needs.
Kindle Farm serves students from southern Vermont and New Hampshire.
