BRATTLEBORO — Turning Point of Windham County recovery center, a safe, supportive gathering place for all lives affected by addiction, is seeking volunteers to help members continue to meet their goals in recovery.
According to the organization in its call for volunteers, anyone can help who is in recovery, as well as those just eager to provide sober companionship and support.
“Peers may have life experiences in common, and when they share how they successfully dealt with those events, both people experience healing,” Turning Point said in a press release.
Many volunteers use their service at Turning Point to gain skills and confidence, and then land employment. Volunteering here is great for those new or returning to the workforce, as well as for those receiving transitional services and need to meet community service requirements.
And as volunteers and those in recovery meet their goals, both gain a sense of belonging in a community and feel confident, capable, and happy, the press release read.
Volunteers help connect guests with services for housing, food, treatment, and training, play pool, share conversation, and help with event planning for center activities.
Turning Point's facility is also available for group meeting space, either during those hours when the center is open to the public or during off-hours.
Space is offered for those hosting family celebrations - birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations of life, and so forth - and other gatherings that might be too large for what you can accommodate at your home.
The center has ample parking, a comfortable living room, a good-sized kitchen, and is handicapped-accessible. The location offers privacy and anonymity.
