BRATTLEBORO — The Neighborhood Market CSA has moved to Green Street School for the 2013 market season. Organizers Post Oil Solutions and Food Connects are partnering to run the market for the fourth year in Brattleboro.
This year, the market builds on the strengths of having the freshest produce from young local farmers, sliding scale pricing, EBT access, educational opportunities and community building, according to a press statement.
Along with a more child-friendly location, the market is adding yogurt, bagels, bread, eggs, fruit, and more from local wholesale producers.
The market runs at the school every Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. through Sept. 24.
Vegetables come from five local farms: New Leaf CSA, CABA Community Farm, Amazing Planet! Farm, Hermit Thrush Homestead, and Circle Mountain Farm.
Vendors agree to participate every week, which allows the farmers to deliver the best prices on local produce. They ask that customers pay for one week at a time. For those qualifying for state-sponsored health insurance, WIC and/or food stamps, the prices are:
• Nine veggie basket: $20/week or $300/season.
• Five veggie basket: $11/week or $165/season.
• Three veggie basket: $7/week or $105/season.
For those who don't qualify for such state-sponsored programs, organizers ask that they pay for the whole season in advance, if possible. Prices are:
• Nine veggie basket: $27/week or $405/season.
• Five veggie basket: $15/week or $225/season.
• Three veggie basket: $9 week or $135/season.
