BRATTLEBORO — The last piece of the Brattleboro Food Co-op project has finally been completed.
A crew from Rand Stoneworks of Scarborough, Maine, was hard at work on the evening of Nov. 2 preparing drainage layers that go under the paved surface that will be the parking lot serving the new store at the bottom of Main Street.
The work was being done at night, according to one crew member, at the request of Co-op staff.
The new parking area is where the old Co-op store used to be. Once it was demolished, the slab and old pavement had to be removed, a process that took some time to complete.
Now, there's more parking, and just in time for the Co-op's grand opening celebration this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10.
The official ribbon cutting takes place Saturday at noon, and there will be food tastings, music, and other activities scheduled for both days.
