PUTNEY — On Saturday, Sept. 29, Putney Cares hosts the 14th annual Intergenerational Walk for Healthy Aging.
Participants can choose a 1- or 3-mile loop, or simply join the walk until they are done. Registration starts at 9:45 a.m.; the walk begins at 10 a.m. No registration fee is required, but donations are requested. Pledge forms are available by email from [email protected].
They look forward to participation from students in the Putney Student Corps and are thankful for local business support of these students to walk. Healthy refreshments will be served at the Putney Cares Activities Barn after the walk.
Organizers say this year's fundraiser is critically important. Putney Cares is completing work on the second floor of the activities barn, which will enable increased usefulness of the building for broader community outreach and activity.
Putney Cares is a local nonprofit organization committed to supporting the needs of elders in the community so that they can remain independent for as long as possible. The board has responsibility for Noyes House, a home for shared living for seniors in Putney. Putney Cares also provides transportation for seniors to medical appointments, lends medical equipment, and organizes volunteers for Meals on Wheels.
Programs at Putney Cares include the Artist in Each of Us, Gentle Yoga, and Living Strong. Their newest program is Folk Dancing, which begins this fall. It continues to offer a monthly foot clinic, and monthly congregate lunches.
The walk's rain date is Sunday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. Questions can be directed to Putney Cares at 802-387-5593 or [email protected].
