GUILFORD — The Guilford Fair kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 1, with live music from 1 to 3 p.m. with the band American Pop.
American Pop features Kevin Parry on guitar, George Adair on bass, and Richard Mayer on drums. Their song list includes radio hits from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. They might also channel their alter-ego, “Classic Country,” for some old fashioned country and western music.
A full day of music is on tap for Sunday, Sept. 2, starting at 10 a.m. with the Residential Jazz Band directed by Pam Pellerin. At 11 a.m., the Howling Kettles, featuring Sam Moss and Jackson Emmer, play old time string band music with a modern twist. At 12:30 p.m., Three Way Street presents its bluegrass, swing, and rock music show with Lisa Brande on fiddle and guitar, Mark Trickka on mandolin, and Kevin Parry on guitar. Electric Fence winds up the day with its acoustic/electric mix featuring Jonny Sheehan on bass, Jeremy Holch on drums, Howard Weiss-Tisman on guitar, and Steve Carmichael on guitar.
Monday, Sept. 3, also holds a full day of music with Nate and Trevor Paine starting out at 10 a.m. with old-time fiddle music. Next is Corki and Ken at 11 a.m. Featuring Corki Demers and Ken Lively, this sibling group plays the best of acoustic classic rock tunes.
The Stockwell Brothers take over at 12:30 p.m. to play their trademark bluegrass music, driven by brothers Bruce on Banjo, Barry on guitar, and Al on mandolin and bass. Then the Brattlyn Brothers close out the Fair with two sets starting at 3 p.m. Although they are not really brothers, Brooklyn natives Joe Santry on guitar and Ken Storey on bass team up with drummer Richard Mayer and with this year's Guilford Fair music producer Kevin Parry for some memorable classic rock 'n' roll.
