BELLOWS FALLS — Vermont Telephone Company (VTel) is sponsoring a new computer skills training program in Bellows Falls and Saxtons River.
The Rockingham Free Public Library will host one-on-one computer coaching sessions through collaboration with Vermont Telephone Company (VTel) every Tuesday through July 17.
There will also be classes on Fridays, June 22 and 29, at Main Street Arts in Saxtons River.
All sessions will be one hour long, beginning at 10 a.m., with the last sessions starting at 5 p.m.
VTel is based in Springfield and, in 2010, received funding to expand broadband access throughout Vermont.
“Our digital literacy initiative is just one piece of VTel's comprehensive plan to bridge the digital divide in Vermont,” said Tess Gauthier, VTel's community broadband team director. “VTel's rural broadband adoption model includes the expansion of our broadband network to Vermont's underserved areas and a commitment to build digital skills within communities.”
All of the one-on-one trainings are free and open to the public.
“We meet with people who want to learn how to take advantage of all the Internet has to offer,” said VTel Community Broadband Organizer Dan Lucier.
“Many folks have not had the chance to develop computer skills and others want to enhance the skills they currently have. We aim to give them this opportunity.”
