BELLOWS FALLS — Come see the results of 24 competing film-making teams from around the world who, for bragging rights and the chance to win an award, are spoofing a classic American film. Will your favorite movie be delightfully re-imagined or will it be completely ruined?
The inaugural edition of the No Film-Film Festival (NFFF) kicks off on Saturday, April 28, starting at 11 a.m., at the Bellows Falls Opera House. Twenty-four teams - including entries from Australia, Virginia, California, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut - compete to make a short spoof of a classic American film in just one week.
The No Film-Film Festival was spearheaded by Joe Eisenberg in collaboration with Mike Smith.
Driven by this obsession, Eisenberg showed up at FACT-TV in Bellows Falls to pitch the concept. Station Director Jake Stradling said: “The folks at FACT-TV agreed that Joe and Mike were a bit out there, but thought that their idea of creating an international film festival/contest here in Bellows Falls was absolutely brilliant and timely.”
The competing filmmakers will be judged on seven categories, and the winner will receive the Best Picture award from NFFF officials. Other awards include: Best Story, Best Camera Work, Best Acting, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Visual, Best Use of Genre and some other surprise awards at the Festival's award ceremony following the screenings at the Windham Hotel in downtown Bellows Falls at 6 p.m.
The public is welcome to attend all events. As an audience member, your vote counts. Individual tickets are $15, with a group pass (four or more) available for $10. To order online, or for more details, visit www.nofilmfestival.org.
