SAXTONS RIVER — We heartily endorse the suggestion that the Brooks House be put to good use as an academic center in downtown Brattleboro [Editorial, Feb. 1].
As your editorial points out, the idea has merit for improving educational opportunities here in southern Vermont as well as for enhancing commerce.
But perhaps even more than that, such a center would demonstrate that we are a vibrant, friendly community promoting a solid future for those who choose to live here.
We are indeed “a college town without a college” and yes, we do need “a creative spark.” What better way than this suggestion?
We hope others will show enthusiasm for this proposal, both in Brattleboro as well as in Montpelier.
