SAXTONS RIVER — Local author Bob Wilson will speak on Thursday, Jan. 12, at Taste of the Arts, an ongoing community supper and talk at Main Street Arts.
Wilson, of Rockingham, is the author of Vermont Curiosities, a collection of “quirky characters, roadside oddities, and other offbeat stuff” that highlightssociology, unique residents from every corner of the state, and interesting bits of history.
The book includes such local topics as Bellows Falls' petroglyphs, the Miss Bellows Falls Diner, Hetty Green, Dari Joy, Gov. George Aiken, Cooperman Fife and Drum, the last dairy farm in Rockingham, Major L.L. B. Angas, and Saxtons River's own minimalist sugar producer, Tim Clark.
Wilson has previously written books about job hunting and career guidance. He is also co-author of Vermont Off the Beaten Path: A Guide to Unique Places. He has worked as a promotion writer for the book and magazine publishing industry and can be found delighting youngsters in the guise of Santa Claus.
Wilson's talk will be preceded by a supper at 6 p.m., prepared by Harvest Moon caterers. Cost of the evening is $15 for adults and $5 for children, with reservations required by Jan. 10.
This is the third in a series that wraps up Feb. 9 with Judith “Eric” and David Robinson, who will lead a musical excursion to accompany visual images of their extensive adventures throughout the world.
