Christmas closings schedule in Brattleboro
BRATTLEBORO - In observance of the Christmas holiday, all Brattleboro Town offices will be closed at noon on Friday, Dec. 23, and all day on Monday, Dec. 26, with the exception of emergency services.
Parking is free at all metered spaces and in the pay-and-display lots from noon on Dec. 23, all day on Saturday, Dec. 24 and all day on Dec. 26. All other violations, including extended parking, will be enforced.
Brooks Memorial Library will be open normal hours on Dec. 23. It will be closed Dec. 24-26, and reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
Trash and recycling will not be picked up on Dec. 26. All trash and recycling pick-up will be delayed by one day all week.
The BeeLine Bus will run its normal schedule on Friday and Saturday. It will not run on Sunday or Monday. Any questions should be directed to The Current (formerly Connecticut River Transit) at 802-460-7433.

Rec. Dept. has extra activities for vacation week
BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department will sponsor several special events during the Christmas Vacation. Call 802-254-5808 for more information on any of these activities:
• Winter Mini Camp, Dec. 27- 30, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Gibson-Aiken Center for children ages 5-11. Fees are $35 for residents, $50 for non-residents or $10 for residents and $13 for non-residents per day. Join the Rec & Parks Staff for a fun-filled morning packed with games, sports, activities, arts and crafts, skating, and more. A snack will be provided.
• Splish, Splash & Swim, Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Colonial Inn and Spa on Putney Road. The fun swim is for children 7 & up. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $3 for children and $5 for adults. Pre-registration is required, as space is limited. Lifeguards will be on duty and supervision will be provided by the Recreation & Parks Department. Swim caps are preferred. Long hair must be in a braid.
• Movie Matinee, Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Gibson-Aiken Center Conference Room. A free showing of Cars 2 will be presented; juice and popcorn will be provided.
• Bowling Day, Friday, Dec. 30, from 10 a.m-2 p.m. at the Brattleboro Bowl on Putney Road. This day is for children and adults of all ages. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. The cost of the program is $7, which includes 2 games, shoes, a hot dog and a drink.
Also, the Whitington Rink at Living Memorial Park will be open for public skating from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Dec. 26-30. The rink will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
The Open Gym and Game Room at the Gibson-Aiken Center will operate Dec. 26-30 from 1:30-5 p.m. for all ages. There will be no Open Gym and Game Room on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.
