BRATTLEBORO — Atamaniuk Funeral Home is sponsoring its 15th annual Holiday Support Program and A Service of Remembrance on Tuesday, Dec. 6, for bereaved families and friends.
The free event will again be held at Carl M. Dessaint VFW Post 1034, 40 Black Mountain Rd., at 7 p.m.
Celebrating the holidays and special family traditions without a loved one is one of the most strenuous events for a grieving family.
Speakers will share specific ways of coping with the holiday season and provide booklets and brochures.
A candle lighting ceremony will honor all families that have experienced a loss. Each deceased family member will be remembered that evening.
Afterwards, refreshments will be served.
The featured speaker will be Dr. Anne Black, a local grief therapist and past president of Comfort Baskets, Inc., a business that she founded to offer condolence gifts and resources to support and strengthen men, women, and children.
Black has authored several books and conducted workshops in bereavement and aftercare.
This year's program will again feature special music by local musician and composer Bill Shontz, who for more than 30 years has entertained millions of children and their parents throughout the country with his imaginative and witty style of music and humor.
“We are encouraging those who plan on attending the event to invite two other people that they know have experienced a loss,” writes Michael Atamaniuk.
The program is open to everyone.

Reservations are requested by Monday, Dec. 5, as seating may be limited.
