Grace Cottage celebrates new imaging suite
TOWNSHEND – The public is invited to attend the grand opening of Grace Cottage Hospital's new Diagnostic Imaging Suite at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18. Refreshments will be served and tours will be given immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Thanks to the generosity of more than 750 Grace Cottage supporters, $672,000 was donated during a 16-month Diagnostic Imaging Suite fundraising campaign that will continue until an additional $128,000 has been raised.
These donations not only funded the new addition that was constructed in less than five months, but also contributed toward the purchase of a 40-slice CT scanner.
The new unit is part of the hospital's master plan to provide a dedicated area for the increasing number of outpatients using diagnostic imaging services, including the new CT scanner, ultrasound, digital X-ray, and the new bone densitometer.

Guilford plans pre-Thanksgiving potluck dinners
GUILFORD - On Saturday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m., the town's year-long 250th anniversary celebration continues with pre-Thanksgiving potluck dinners, which will take place simultaneously in three of the villages in Guilford.
Roast turkey, with stuffing and gravy, will be provided at each location, along with utensils and basic non-food components. Those attending will choose the location to dine, and bring an item to share, such as additional special stuffing/dressing to add to the selection, side dishes, appetizers, bread or rolls, condiments (think cranberry sauce or relish), desserts, or simply a beverage.
This event allows the town to celebrate Thanksgiving, while still leaving the actual holiday for traditional home family feasts. “It also provides one final opportunity this celebration year to gather in three villages that were traditional centers of activity in earlier days,” organizers write.
Participants are also asked to bring a non-perishable food donation. Those received at Community Church may go into the Thanksgiving baskets being assembled by the church the following day or to the Guilford Food Pantry. Items brought to the other three locations will go exclusively to the Food Pantry.
The locations:
• Algiers Village: Guilford Community Church, Church Drive off Bee Barn Road, off Route 5. Elly Majonen is in charge of this site, and no reservations are required.
• Guilford Center Village: Broad Brook Grange, 3940 Guilford Center Rd. Marli Rabinowitz is in charge of this location, and here, also, no reservations are required.
• Green River Village will have its dinner in a private home, with very limited seating, so reservations are required. Addie Minott is the contact for this village and may be phoned at 802-254-5910 for location and reservation.
