TOWNSHEND — The Grace Cottage Hospital Auxiliary annual meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct.13 at 7 p.m. in the Grace Cottage Hospital dining room.
Two members of the hospital staff, social worker Carol Vandertuin and Dr. Robert Backus, will speak about “Advance Directives…Why Bother?” Advance directives are written plans stating what health care treatment you would or would not want if you couldn't speak for yourself.
The annual Grace Cottage Auxiliary fair, which raises money for the hospital, this year will donate nearly $56,000 from a total of about $70,000. This year the money will this year be used to buy:
• Holter cardiac monitor, $14,000
• Rehab treatment table, $2,000
• Bladder scanner, $10,000
• Floor burnisher $2,000
• Carpeting for clinic, $8,000
• Waiting room renovations, $2,000
• OB-GYN ultrasound table, $7,000
• Furniture for psychiatry suite, $1,000
• Medical imaging suite, $6,000
• Tools for maintenance department, $1,000
• Outdoor grill for kitchen, $3,000
Stan Holt, president of the auxiliary and chairman of the fair, wishes to acknowledge Jim Crozier and Bob Barber for their work setting up and taking down fair booths, tables and so forth.
He also thanks Cameron Howard, who oversees the chicken barbecue, and NewBrook Fire and Rescue, which prepares the food.
He further reported that the $1,000 prize for the hole-in-one competition was won by a Vernon resident early in the day, and that a Connecticut woman won the $1,000 lottery ticket.
