Building a Better Brattleboro to hold 12th annual meeting of members

BRATTLEBORO — Building a Better Brattleboro (BaBB) will hold its 12th annual meeting of its members and community stakeholders on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden at 157 Main St., beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Downtown commercial property owners and merchants are encouraged to attend. Downtown residents as well as the general public are also welcomed. Light refreshments and beverages will be provided beginning at 5:15 p.m., thanks to the Brattleboro Food Coop and Windham Wines.

The meeting agenda will include the election of new members to the Board of Directors. Nominations are welcomed from the floor by current members of the organization. Executive Director Andrea Livermore will present a brief overview of last year's accomplishments and will update the group on the current year's activities and plans. Board President Gail Nunziata will reflect on BaBB's recent activity and share her thoughts on the organization's future.

The board will seek input from downtown stakeholders with regards to where they would like to see the organization focus its efforts in next year's work plans beginning July 1, 2012. BaBB committees will convene following the meeting to develop work plans to achieve goals identified through input gathered at the Annual Meeting.

This year the event will feature a guest speaker. Tripp Muldrow, of Arnett/Muldrow & Associates of Greenville, S.C., will present thoughts to the group on the use of the recently completed Market Study as it relates to downtown economic development strategies. Muldrow and his firm have worked throughout the United States with communities of like size to Brattleboro and are versed in the Main Street Four point approach to downtown revitalization.

BaBB's mission is to support and nurture the commercial, cultural, residential and professional environment of the town of Brattleboro with a primary emphasis on downtown revitalization. BaBB's vision is a vibrant downtown that thrives socially, economically and culturally.
