BRATTLEBORO — The Vermont Citizens Campaign for Health (VCCH) and Brattleboro Memorial Hospital are co-sponsoring a series of monthly forums on topics relating to Vermont's new health care law, Act 48.
The second presentation will be on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. in Brattleboro Memorial Hospital's Brew Barry Conference Room.
Anya Rader Wallack, Special Assistant to the Governor for Health Care, will talk about the soon to be formed Green Mountain Care Board.
The new law has raised many questions and there are many more steps that must take place if Vermont's health care reform process is to move forward. Perhaps, the most important of those steps will involve the work of a five member board, the Green Mountain Care Board, to be appointed by the Governor.
The board is charged with developing a financing mechanism for Vermont's new health care system as well as recommending a benefits package. The public will have input into the process and if people are to understand how reform will proceed they need to understand the work of the board.
Rader Wallack will provide details about how the board will function and explain the relationship of the board to the public and legislators.
