BRATTLEBORO — The Neighborhood Market, a community CSA providing local, organically grown produce from Windham County farms, is about to begin its second season of operation.
The farms participating in this years' Market are Circle Mountain Farm, Youth Agriculture Project, Amazing Planet! Farm, Wild Carrot Farm, New Leaf CSA, Guerrilla Grown, and the Community Farm at SIT.
The Neighborhood Market is at three locations this year – the Westgate Housing Community, on the lawn of Samuel Elliot Apartments on Elliot Street, and at the Townshend Farmers Market.
At Westgate and Elliot Street, vegetable pick-up is from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesdays, starting June 21 and going until Sept. 27.
In Townshend, the market is on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m., starting June 30 and going until Oct. 6.
Participants can pay with cash, check, or debit and EBT cards.
If you qualify for 3SquaresVT (food stamps), the following options are available. For a nine-vegetable basket (example: one vegetable = one bunch of carrots), the cost is $20 per week. A five-vegetable basket is $11 per week, and a three-vegetable basket is $7 per week.
At the Westgate and Elliot Street sites, they are also offering a limited number of openings for people who do not qualify for 3SquaresVT. For a nine-vegetable basket, the cost is $25 per week, or $375 for the 15-week season. A five-vegetable basket is $14 per week, or $210 for the season, and a three-vegetable basket is $8.50 per week, or $125 for the season.
The Market on Elliot Street is also offering cooking classes every week from June 28-Sep.t 20 for all participants in the Market. Sign-up now to secure your spot.
The Neighborhood Market is a project of Post Oil Solutions. The Market sends out a huge thanks to our Organizational Partners: Early Education Services, Windham Child Care Association, The AIDS Project of Southern VT, and the Department of Health. And a huge thanks to the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education grant which has helped make this market possible.
